We are so excited to be welcoming Gandini Juggling to bOing! Festival 2021 with their brand new show Smashed2.
We caught up with the company to find out more about the event ahead of the festival…
How did Gandini Juggling begin?
“We began almost 30 years ago, Sean Gandini was doing Street shows in Covent Garden and Kati Ylä-Hokkala had just retired from Rhythmic gymnastics and they felt like there was more to Juggling than was currently being done.”
Tell us about Smashed2
“Smashed2 is a series of theatrical images using fruits as metaphors and juggling instruments. The piece goes from comedy to tragedy, accession serious issues in a lighthearted way.”
What can families expect?
“Some special choreographed juggling. Some silly images. Some serious images. The piece can be read in different ways by different age groups…”
What does it mean to you to come to bOing! ?
“We have never been before and it sounds like a delightful experience.”
Why do you think access to the art by children and young people is so important?
“Art is such an important life nourishment. It vitalizes the mind. Learning its benefits early can greatly enrich existence. We try and make pieces which can be read in different ways at different ages!”
