A Relaxed Festival
We believe that bOing! is for everyone and each year we work to ensure that all audiences can enjoy the special bOing! atmosphere.
bOing! 2024 is a relaxed festival, meaning all performances have a relaxed approach to noise and movement in the space – you are free to enter and exit throughout, and chill-out spaces and noise cancelling headphones are available for adults and children. There are also events with BSL interpretation and captioning, as well and non-verbal performances, allowing a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all.
bOing! is free to enter and we have free parking available on campus so that everybody can come and join in the fun with us.
Along with many free outdoor shows and performances, we have some events that have been curated especially for those with access requirements:
Theatre performances
Our indoor spaces all have wheelchair access, and we always programme work create for neuro-divergent audiences. This year we present Second Hand Dance with The Sticky Dance for young Neurodivergent audiences and in.Difference by Square Pegs Arts, a game-inspired performance for Neurodivergent and Neurotypical audiences ages 7+, with a BSL interpreter.
As well as our free outside events on Gulbenkian Lawn, we have The Puppet Van Presents: Space Chickens by Half A String which will have a BSL interpreter at the 10.30am performances both days.
To help make a relaxed environment, across all our performances and films, audiences are welcome to enter or leave when needed, and are encouraged to respond to performances in their own way.

Site description bOing! is an indoor and outdoor event utilising the University of Kent grounds and venues. The majority of the area is flat and are serviced by a network of paths, however, mobility problems may arise on grassy areas, particularly in bad weather conditions. If it rains it may get muddy and access around the site (other than on paths) may be very difficult. Electric wheelchairs can tackle most areas without too much trouble but the ground can be uneven in places.
Medical Assistance We take health and well-being very seriously at bOing! There will be to be first aiders from St John’s Ambulance on hand during the whole event.
If the team can help you with any access questions then please email on boxoffice@kent.ac.uk and let them know.
